if the screaming on the airplane wasn’t enough…

…this probably was.
I asked my sister to hold Levi up while I ran and got a diaper and wipes.
She could barely handle it.
She even had to have her husband plug her nose.
And all of that fuss was over this.
A normal up-the-back poop.
It really wasn’t even that bad.
You’ve seen worse, right?
I think she recovered though.
She just prefers when he’s clean…and smells good.
Someday, Aunt Anne will be ready to give Levi a cousin.
Someday.
In the meantime, I’ll try to be a good sister and wait patiently.
And not bother her about it.
This doesn’t count as bothering, does it?

  • Beki - TheRustedChain - Ha!

That was Camryn every single morning, when she was a baby. Sometimes all the way up to her hair in the back. I was always amazed!

    Anne is too funny.ReplyCancel

  • Cristin - Too funny. My sister wants to be a dental hygienist, but when my 22 month old slobbers on her she goes crazy. What a profession to choose, right?ReplyCancel

  • Heather at Blessed Little Nest - how could a little poop deter her from wanting a little peanut as cute as Levi? even with an up the back poop he’s one of the cutest boys around!ReplyCancel

  • Tricia - LOL! Oh, I have definitely seen worse!!

The first time I asked my brother to babysit (he was around 17, what was I thinking?!) he changed a diaper and was traumatized. The diaper he put on my daughter afterwards barely covered her hiney. It was hilarious! Low-rider diaper. Nice, brother. Nice. πŸ˜‰

We got photos. He recovered. Eventually. Tee hee.ReplyCancel

  • The Macons - I am awaiting our first up the back poo!! Hasn’t happened in 6 weeks…Maybe I got lucky?ReplyCancel

  • Candice - “Just a normal up the back poo…” LOLReplyCancel

  • Stef - hahaha! this made me LOL — nice nudge for your sister πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Todd and Courtney - HILARIOUS! I have fond memories of my little 19 month old, Lauren, having multiple up the back poops driving home from vacation in Hilton Head. Why do they poop soooo much as little ones? It cracks me up!ReplyCancel

  • MICHELE - Definitely seen worse, that is barely classified a poopy explosion. HA! Levi is such a cutie. Keep working on Anne!ReplyCancel

  • Amanda - hahahaha – love it!ReplyCancel

  • Julie - We are loving have your sis and bro-in-law at youth group!! They are so much fun!! And, I think it is great fun that you are encouraging Anne like this! It’s what big sisters do– at least mine always did πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - SO funny!! I have a sister-in-law like this. ;0)ReplyCancel

  • The Mershawn's - Yep. I’ve seen worse:). It is a little intimidating though….even for a mom! Ha!! He’s so darn cute, even with poop on his nice white onesie….by the way….the laundry is MUCH worse than the poop.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - HeHe we have had a few of those and worse πŸ™‚
    A little nudging never hurts….ReplyCancel

  • The Macons - Ok seriously after I posted my “waiting on the poo” comment I fed my little girl and felt something wet on her stomach. None other than my first up the front poo… In her new outfit none the less!!ReplyCancel

  • Tammye - Oh Jess! You made me laugh! I just love reading about our Kurtz/Beverlin/MAC family! Someday Loren and Anne will make me a grandma – and what a glorious day that will be! I will patiently wait for God’s perfect timing for them and ME! But right now they are doing a super fantastic job of being the best auntie and uncle your sweet precious Cora and Levi could ever have! Don’t you know?! Thanks for sharing your life with so many and blessing me each time I read your blog! You are a sweetheart! Tell Joel hey from Tam-yeah! πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Amy - Oh my.

Yes, I have seen much, much worse!

But, I can admit that I was this Aunt at one time. I liked my nieces clean, rather than stinky.

    Wait. I still prefer that.

I can handle poopy from my three girls, but when my nieces have those issues, my sis-in-law gets them back πŸ˜€

At least until they are clean.

And, no this definitely does not count as bothering!ReplyCancel

  • blueskiesandgreenlights - Om my!!! Up the back poopies are a constant in our household. Well, not so much anymore, but they have been, with our two little ones, in the past. It’s so funny that you mention your sis. Mine is exactly the same way. She will do almost anything for my kids. She would give her life for them. She will not, however, change a stinky diaper. I have literally seen her gag. Too funny. Hope you get a nephew or niece someday soon. I am dreaming of that day for myself. Too bad my sis isn’t even married yet….he he he

    Have a blessed week!!!

Btw, I absolutely love your blog. You are so couragous, generous, kind, and caring. You inspire me!!!ReplyCancel

  • Natalie Catherine - ooo poopy disasters.. i’ve had my share of fun little disasters with sophia in a place where there is no changing table..and when i didn’t bring a change of clothes. always fun.ReplyCancel

  • Sara - This made me laugh! When my first was maybe four months old, my high school girlfriends came to visit. We were dining (with baby) al fresco at a cute little cafe. When I picked him up, he had a similar up the back (but also down the leg) experience. One of my friends immediately started gagging and they both left me on my own to clean him up and change him in a tiny bathroom with no changing table.

Now that they both have their own kids, they apologize once in a while. πŸ™‚ Everything is different before you have a little one!ReplyCancel

  • Meg - Definitely seen worse! I’m sure by the time your sister gives Levi a cousin (or at least after the first couple of months) she’ll get the swing of it. πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • A - Coming from someone who is struggling to conceive, I’d just say for you to start praying that God will not give her the cross of infertility. There is nothing worse than knowing your entire family wants you to have a baby and not being able to, despite how hard you try, what medicine you take, and what surgery you have.

(I hope this didn’t come off as snarky, it’s just so near and dear to my broken heart-)ReplyCancel

  • Lauren Kelly - Oh, too funny!!! And not that I’m speaking from experience as I have no kids but it’s safe to say your sister probably doesn’t even know the half of it, haha!! πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • The Moffats - hahahahahhaahahahaaha. this post is FUNNY. very, very, very funny. on so many different levels πŸ™‚ Come on Auntie Anne..PLEASE have a cousin for Levi soon. PRETTY PLEASE??!ReplyCancel

  • Ceri - Ha ha ha, funny! Lucky my little sister has joined me in motherhood. If only she was closer. My son did not have that problem too often, just always in public! (I discovered that’s why onesies have such large shoulder openings, so you can pull them DOWN rather than over the head!!) πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Matt and Nicole - Haha! Let me know if this works, and I’ll try blogging about Clint and Abby to hurry them up.:) I’m trying to be patient too, but it’s hard! Your little boy is so cute. I’m glad he’s bringing so much joy to your lives.ReplyCancel

  • Toni :O) - Hah..this is hilarious, especially cause my kids did that All.The.Time!ReplyCancel

  • Sue - Nah – what’s a bit of poop?? She’ll get used to it, or have to hire a nanny!!

I haven’t been by in a while, so good to catch up again. Nice to see that you’ve had a little break away from home too. And I can’t believe how much Levi has grown! He’s lovely and you both look smitten. Stunning!
