20 weeks {half way}

I really struggled to get a good 20 week picture this time. Someone was really wanting to be in the picture too. The sibling jealousy has already begun…actually I don’t think he has any idea what it means we talk to him about having a Baby Brother!Β And someone’s daddy was being really goofy too. Those boys!
So this is the best we got. Not the best picture, but you can definitely see how Baby Brother is growing away. I am actually 22 weeks as of Saturday. Here is a little update…
*I am feeling really great…besides the awkwardness of a growing belly. I am hungry all the time, but that is nothing new for me. No major cravings…I just like to eat!
*Baby Brother is doing great too. Everything has looked good at my appointments so far. He moves ALL the time. He is much more active than either of my other babies. Does that mean I am going to have my hands full? πŸ™‚
*I am so thankful that we found out what we are having this time. It has been so good for me to stop thinking about baby girl things and focus on this sweet little boy that will be joining our family. I still miss Cora like crazy and long for a little girl around here, but once again the Lord has been so faithful to comfort my grieving heart. I love thinking about Levi having a little brother. I know they will have so much fun growing up together.
*Baby boy names are hard. We have a small list of possibilities, but no decisions yet. I am open to any suggestions…are there any boy names that you love?Β
I think that is about all the news. Time seems to be flying by and we are getting more and more excited to meet Levi’s little brother!

  • Ali - I’m partial to Jack. πŸ™‚

I know I had a few other boys names that I liked but they are escaping me now. They were very non traditional…like Cash (johnny cash) and other musician inspired names. Hehe.ReplyCancel

  • Ali - I meant to also say, you are looking great! Half way, woo!ReplyCancel

  • jesuscoffeeandfamily - I tend to go for traditional but slightly unusual names for boys. My boys are Joshua (nothing unusual about that) and Preston (again, nothing unusual), but I had other names that I wanted. (Like Jack and Levi, actually!) I really, really wanted my youngest to be Silas Nathaniel. And hey, I think Silas Joel sounds pretty good for the new little guy!

My guys are a little farther apart than yours will be, and it’s still crazy. Crazy loud and crazy messy. But fun!ReplyCancel

  • BriBedell - As someone who is currently trying to make a baby I have been thinking about names too! Boys are so hard. I have two girls and so I have girl names on the brain. But some boys name ideas for you are Everett, Jack, Hudson, Liam, and Forrest (that’s my fathers name!)ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I love the name Liam for a boy. Levi and Liam would be cute. πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Bethany - I automatically think two-syllable four-letter names for you: Owen, Ezra, Noah?ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Our children’s names began with J’s and we didn’t know what to name our son. We liked Aaron and Jerry, so we put them together and came up with Jaron. 30 yrs later there are more Jaron names in various forms but I still like his name because it is different.
Love your blog. I prayed for you many times during the loss of your little one. I was having chemo treatments at the same time as your little ones death. I still remember you and your family in prayer. Prayer is the key. Take care and congrats on this new little one. CherylReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Luke Cory (Cory after his sister) πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Erin - I’m due September 25, so really close to you. We didn’t find out what we were having with my first two (boys- 3 and 20 months), but found out this time; it’s a girl! We’re excited, but I loved our boy name. We were going to name him Reid. Everyone I told thought it was a a great name. Normal, but unique and not used often.ReplyCancel

  • Meg - I love the picture. You did a great job–I love the one with you and Levi. So cute!ReplyCancel

  • Anne - My oldest son is Jude. My husband came up with that and as soon as he said it, I knew that was the perfect name for our little man! We also have Noah.ReplyCancel

  • Janel - I like Wade, Liam, and Elijah (Eli for short).

love stopping by here, such a great blog Jess.. and you look great too!ReplyCancel

  • Lyndsey - My little guy’s name is Liam which I obviously love! Levi was also on our short list and is still a contender for future kids, I just love it!

    Congratulations on the halfway mark!ReplyCancel

  • Elizabeth - I love Liam and Owen, but isn’t your brother’s name Owen? I also like Reed/Reid, Sawyer, but you seem to have a theme going with 4 letter names which I love!! You look great in the photos and I didn’t comment on the room tour, but it is too precious!!ReplyCancel

  • Nancy - You look great!! Yay for 1/2 way there!
Any name you choose will be fabulous. I have a boy with the name “L” like Levi…Logan.
He says he might change it when he becomes a dentist, since he thinks there aren’t a whole lot of adults named Logan! HA!ReplyCancel

  • Elisa Seaba - You are such a darn cute preggo! Levi is the cutest little guy, i just love all his pictures!!ReplyCancel

  • Kahla - You are absolutely adorable with your belly and so is Levi! He is growing so fast! We went with the name Chase because it wasn’t a typical name and we had not heard it often. It was hard for us because being a teacher there are so many names that were already off the table! Good luck, I have no doubt that whatever name you go with, it will be perfect!ReplyCancel

  • Jennifer Kay - If I had another one I also wanted a Jack…ReplyCancel

  • Lindy - Ross… done deal.
You look fabulous too, btw. I loved being pregnant, licensed to eat, wonderful time.
    Hugs,
    LindyReplyCancel

  • Shosh - my son’s name is Ezra. it’s a biblical name that means “god helps.” i may be a little biased πŸ™‚ but i love it!ReplyCancel

  • Sarah - Our baby boy in heaven is named Andrew. I’m already brainstorming other boys names if we have another boy (we have since had a little girl) and have always liked Brady, Bailey, Tyler, and Parker! I’m so glad you are doing well and that you are glad you found out the gender. I had my heart set on having another boy, but am glad we found out our second was a girl – it was nice to transition the thoughts in my mind to a very concrete little girl!!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - May I suggest the name ‘Evan’? It is a favorite of mine. When I pair it with Levi — to me it flows. It’s not too long or too short for a younger brother’s name — just right.ReplyCancel

  • Whitney - We are having a baby boy in October and are naming him Camden! I think it is such a fun, sweet name!ReplyCancel

  • Jenae - If you’re sticking with Bible-themed names…Caleb and Noah. πŸ™‚

But I also really like Jude, Judah, Jacob, Silas, Elijah, and Luke. Luke and Levi would be cute! I always thought it would be cute to have boys with the same first letter in their names…now I’m glad we don’t because i already get their names mixed up enough!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - First off I want to say congratulations and we are praying for that sweet new baby boy πŸ™‚

My firstborn is a Benjamin, and I just love his name. If we have another boy someday, we love Isaac. I also love Caleb, Elijah, and Silas. (Yes, we like the biblical names!) πŸ™‚

On another note, we had a little girl last August, and we chose one of the greatest names I know…Cora πŸ™‚ I don’t know any other Cora’s besides your own little girl, and I think of your sweet Cora so often when I look my own baby girl.

Praying for you in this time of transition, and all the blessings that are coming with it!

    ~HannahReplyCancel

  • Trish - oh my boy names were so hard for us too! our little guys name is levi too πŸ™‚ his middle name is aaron. i love that name too! maybe i shouldn’t have used it as his middle name in case we have another boy πŸ™‚ oh well!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - One of my grandsons is Dane. I just love it.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Jess, you look great! It is too funny that you mention how active he is. I’m 31 weeks now (5 weeks further than I made it with our girls), and our son is WAY more active than his sisters ever were! I tell people all the time that he is going to be a go getter and we might have our hands full!

Boy names are hard for us, too. I love Noah, Cole, and Kyler, but got vetoed on all of those. Our little boy may be headed off to college before we can agree on a name!

So glad things are going well for you. Take care!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - The last comment was from me- Sarah Johnson. For some reason, it won’t let me post with my google account. Weird.ReplyCancel

  • Carrie Burnett - I have been a follower for quite a while now. I look forward to every post! My son’s name is Fisher! We love it and still get compliments!ReplyCancel

  • Nicole - This is just my humble opinion, but if your kid’s names are too close to each other people will always get them confused and Mommy usually ends up calling the wrong name, too. I suggest a completely different name with different starting letter.

I’m a pre-school teacher so I’ve had lots of little boys come through my classroom…some of my favorites are Hudson, Jake, Jackson, Reid, Harrison, Chase, Trip, etc.

One other thing, I always imagined my own kids names being called out at their high school graduation or their Presidential inauguration…ha-ha…if it sounded good enough for those events then it worked for me. :->ReplyCancel

  • Peyton's Pages - Boy names are hard for sure! For me though I think its because I love so many. ha. Noah is my son’s name, and I love it, but it is really popular. His middle name is Thomas. I also love: Samuel, Benjamin, Bennet, Jonah, Jonas, Lucas/Luke, Elias, Jacob, Nolan, Tristan, Grant, Asher, Rueben, and Raymond.ReplyCancel

  • Cristin - So precious!

My little boy’s name is Avery. So I’m certainly partial to that name. I’ve loved that name ever since I was little and read “Charlotte’s Web.”

The other two names I like are Liam and Davis (or Davidson)ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I love the name Luke. It flows well with Joel, Jesse, Levi & Luke.ReplyCancel

  • Kate - We have no children, but I have always loved the names Drew, Garrett, Mason, Wade, and Owen. Garrett was the name of a friend who was killed in a car accident when we were teenagers.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Yay so excited you’re half way now! You’re looking amazing Jess!

I like the names Noah, Max, Samuel, Jack, William, Benjamin, Jacob, Alexander, Callum and Finley.

And I think they will all go quite well with Levi also!ReplyCancel

  • Betsy Gilbride - Beckett. I love this name!ReplyCancel

  • DaisyJo - Awwww! I fell behind in reading my subscriptions–I’m so happy to find out you’re expecting. πŸ˜€ReplyCancel

  • Claire - You look beautiful! It has always been easier for me to come up with girl names, so when I had a little boy, it took FOREVER to decide on a name. We finally settled on Nathaniel, but everyone calls him Nate. And I love the meaning (gift from God).
I’ve always like Jacob, Jack, Silas, and Joseph/Joe, too.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - There are so many cute names that have already been suggested!

My favorites are Silas, Sam, Barrett, Everett, and Nolan.

PS – I’ve been so inspired by following your journey. Your joy for your family, your honesty in your struggles, and your strong faith are refreshing to see.ReplyCancel

  • Amber - Boy names are so hard! We picked Hudson a few weeks ago for our little guy on the way, but if we ever have another little boy, we are in trouble! I love the name Landon, but my hubby isn’t a fan of it. Levi and Landon sound cute together though! Glad you are feeling well! You look great! I am 24 weeks along with Hudson and I feel like he is very active too! This is my first though so I don’t have anything to compare it to. I keep telling my hubby that I hope this isn’t an indication of how active he is going to be outside the womb! He’s going to be a busy, busy little man if it is!ReplyCancel

  • Julie - You are so cute!!

    How about Ransom? πŸ˜‰ hehe.ReplyCancel

  • Gail - Tried to leave a comment but think I lost it. I’m partial to Bible names–just read Ezra and loved it so that name’s on my mind now. I also like Jude, Joshua, Caleb, … For non-Bible names, I love Will and Jack.ReplyCancel

  • songskatesang - My son’s name is Nathaniel. It means gift from God. He is so special and wonderful and a true gift.ReplyCancel

  • Rsymphony - You look amazing! I always resembled a beached whale from six months to nine πŸ˜‰
Our boy’s names are Duncan and Kellan. Duncan means brown warrior and Kellan means mighty warrior. I also love the name Nathan but with four munchkins…we’re done now πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to hear what ya’ll decide to name him!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I LOVE the name Owen!ReplyCancel

  • C - Thanks for letting us have fun thinking of names. I am sure number 3 will have a great name too.
I love Cormac or Cormick in honor of big sis.
    Blessings.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I love Matias which means Gift from God!ReplyCancel

  • maureen - Our fourth is Evan. Evan means God is Gracious πŸ™‚ We loved that!

    Blessings to you,
    maureenReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - How about the name Landon? It’s original and goes well with Levi :).ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - My Boys names are Aedan, and Trenton. Other boys names I like are: Bentley, William, Liam, Collin, Jameson, Maddox, and DylanReplyCancel

  • Brittany - Love the name Luke (though, I partial!) and Liam! I just love “L” names!! πŸ™‚

Non “L” names: Sam, Judson & ReedReplyCancel

  • Brandi - My oldest son is Jude and my baby is Sheldon Reid. However, I love the names Shiloh and Thaddeus (Thad for short- it’s my brothers name). Whitt and Wade were also a couple of my fave’s.ReplyCancel

  • Carpenter's - Oh my goodness, I have the perfect names πŸ™‚ They will ALL go with Levi too. Owen and Miles

    PERFECT!!

Congrats on being half way done!ReplyCancel

  • The Schaab Family - you look great, love the names grayson, gavinReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - LeoReplyCancel

  • Lizzy - I love the name Lucas, since I named my son that. πŸ™‚ Lucas and Levi go good together. The one thing I don’t like about the name is how popular it is now.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I have a Henry, Jonah, and Augustine (Augie). I also like Asher, Ari, Abraham (Bram), Malcolm, and Peter. This is such a sweet blog!ReplyCancel

  • Sarah - We love the name Landrey. If we ever have a boy, that is probably what we will name him.ReplyCancel

  • JMCD - if i had a third boy his name would have been LIAM.
    I like Levi and Liam.
    Best wishes!ReplyCancel

  • Ellen - My “little boys” (33, 20 & 17) are Eric, Griffin and Landon. My grandsons are Gibson, Cash and Carter.

We used the naming method of combining less traditional names with a family/Biblical name (John, James and Thomas)

My daughter is considering Reed for her baby due in October. Her hubby really likes Lincoln (Levi and Linc sounds cute together!) Joel has always been one of my favorite Bible names. Of course you’ve already got a Joel!ReplyCancel

  • Beth - I’m pretty traditional and like William and Keith. If I’d had a boy, I’d have used both.

Congrats! I so enjoy reading about pregnancy and new babies, since my time for that is past. πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Toni :O) - You look absolutely fab girlfriend! I have a Brendan but a friend of mine has Liam as well and I think that is a GREAT name that goes along with Levi! Good luck, I know when I was pregnant with my daughter (which we didn’t know until day of delivery) we really struggled with boy names too since we already had a boy. I wish you the best of luck and have fun!ReplyCancel

  • Selena - Hi Jess,

You look so pretty. I am so excited for you… I think it is really neat that you are asking for help naming the “little brother”. I believe it is normal to LOVE your own childrens’ names so I will share them along with a few others that we’ve always liked… Our boys are 23 mos apart. Our oldest son is Lawson… he will be 3 on Saturday! Our youngest son is Emmitt… he was 1 the end of April! It will be so much fun with two little boys… I keep telling myself that raising these two little boys is the most exhausting thing I will ever enjoy! πŸ™‚

A few other ieas… Barnes, Denton, Rhett, Russ, Hadley, and I also like Hudson which has been mentioned a few times.

Have fun reading all of the ideas and take care! Look forward to your next posting, as always. πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - It took my husband and I almost the entire time I was pregnant to decide on a boys name but we went with Emery.

for our second child we decided to not find out the sex until the birth. We ended up having a little girl but a couple of the boy names we had picked out that I liked were Jackson, Parker, and Sutton.

Good luck with finding the perfect name!ReplyCancel

  • pocomomo - How did anyone not suggest Matthew? I did see a Matias which would be close. My son is Matthew John and my son-in-law is Matthew Craig. There was never a doubt what I was going to use for our son. You look fantastic.ReplyCancel

  • Kylie and crew. - I agree boy names are SO hard! Girl names are hard too and you are naming them for the rest of their life. It’s a big deal! Good luck!!! You look great too!ReplyCancel

  • The Moffats - I really want to help you guys pick baby boy Mac’s name…here are my contenders…Rupert, Ronald (perfect to honor his grampy Donald), Amigo, Obama, YoMama, BoDell, Tyrell. What do you think? No? None? Alright, let’s explore the grassroot names a little more…Bart (this could be in honor of your good ol’ friend Burt), Billy Bob, Billy Ray, Bubba, Buck, Buddy, Rufus or Luther. Surely we are getting closer. I’ve saved my best for last…Trigger or Wynter. Go ahead and get back to me with your favorite. Love and hugs. Oh, and if NONE of those work, there is always the ever loved Michael, Hunter, or Tanner. PS – Joel, you need to work on your photog skilz…good thing your wife is always a cutie πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Karina - I can’t believe you are half way already!! Woohoo!

I scrolled back a bit…Levi is SO handsome! He was always good-looking, but he is turning into a little BOY now, it is amazing to watch!

I will (not so humbly) propose my own boys’ names: Max and Theo. It took us an age to come up with those two, so I am sticking with them. πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Amanda Bartell - I think Wyatt goes well with Levi. Of course, I am partial to the name as it is my fifth child’s name:)ReplyCancel

  • Melissa - Every time I stop by to visit here I am encouraged in some way~ thank you! I am in the process of re-doing some spaces in our home and Levi’s room pics were inspiring:)

I have 3 boys and on our third we barely made it to the hospital with a name we both loved. I really love the name Brady, but my husband is not that fond of it.

If you would like to look at a really fun book that is unlike all the other ones you should check out “The Baby Name Wizard”~ it shows sibling names, their meanings and origins and other fun facts! (It’s also on-line) We had lots of fun reading through this book when trying to find a third boy name!

Have fun and I know God will give you the perfect name for your sweet son πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Melissa - I just read that Amanda suggested Wyatt and that is actually a “sibling” name of Levi! So fun πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Amanda - You’re beautiful!! Love the photo of you and Levi – so precious!

If God ever blesses us with son we will name him Ezra…we think!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - We have a Griffin, which I love. And a Jackson, but these were my husband’s choice. Our last son is Jacob, common, but meaningful.ReplyCancel

  • KK - Silas is my son’s middle name, after his Great-Grandfather. I thought it was a good strong name & one you don’t hear every day either. I love Ali’s suggestion of Cash, too. There are a multitude of others based on close friend’s children–Eli, Wilkes, Wyatt, Walker, Trent, Brooks, Britt, Ryan, Jack, Tucker, Ian. Whatever you decide will be absolutely perfect in the end!ReplyCancel

  • jen christians - I have a Turner and Tyler… Love both of those names… I have a nephew Gabriel. I love names!
Anderson, Hudson, I kind of like last name for firsts…ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I have a 14 year old son and his name is Gavin and I love it, I picked it out when I was a young teen after reading it in a book. If I had been blessed with another son, (God gave us two daughters) I would have named him Asher, or Aidan.ReplyCancel

  • Angie - My son is Nathan, which means “gift of God”.ReplyCancel

  • Mere - We have had three little girls, so I haven’t ever been able to name a sweet baby boy! Some of the names that I love are Davis, Maddox, and Brooks. I like names that aren’t real common. πŸ™‚ No matter what, I know you will come up with the perfect name for him. He certainly is blessed to be born into such a precious family. I have enjoyed following you and admire your strength so much.ReplyCancel

  • Cindy - KYLER πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - My son is Tucker. I love the name, he is the only Tucker in our little town. When he was little his Mama(my grandmother)called him Tuckey-it was cute when he was little. He now often shortens it to Tuck.

  • Colson's mama - COLSON!

No bias from his mama, of course πŸ˜‰

    You look fabulous!ReplyCancel

  • ' - My oldest son’s name is Benjamin and even after 24 years, I still love it so!ReplyCancel

  • Jessica - You already have my favorite name.. Levi. I’ve been following for a long time and I gave birth to MY Levi just a few short weeks after you had your Levi (I knew he would be “Levi Ryan” from the minute they said he was a boy on the ultrasound). I had wanted Levi for our first son’s name, but my husband was very set on Scott if he ever had a boy, so I told him the next boy was all mine to name… and I got him! Now we are done and I am incredibly happy. My two boys are amazing!

Thanks for posting such honest and inspiring words.

Jessica, Ryan, Scott & LEVI !!ReplyCancel

  • Melissa S - I’ve been blessed with two daughters but if I am ever to have a son, my favorite boy name is Oliver! πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Colbert Family - We have 3 boys and I love all their names so i thought I’d suggest them :).
    Jacob
    Micah
    Caleb

I know Jacob and Caleb are fairly common, but you don’t hear Micah much and I just love the name!!!
Congrats on being past your half way mark! You look great and I always love reading your blog :)!ReplyCancel

  • Sarah Keen - Westin
    Nash
    Hudson
    Everhett (Rhett)
    Kelson
    Sawyer

This is my list… But not sure what reasoning you uses for naming your adorable kids. Do you go by sound, length, meaning, family name, etc. It is SO hard. Good luck and can’t wait to hear what you decide. Will you tell us once you decide?ReplyCancel

  • The Morris Family - our boys names are:

    Caleb
    Daniel
    Elijah
    Micah
    Andrew
    Joshua
    Jeremiah
    Joel
    Josiah

    i love all those names….. πŸ™‚

    CindyReplyCancel

  • Mum2twopreciousgifts - Boys names. Oh what fun. I wanted Jonathan. My husband wanted Joshua. Our compromise? ETHAN. The only name we could agree on πŸ™‚

We also liked Lachlan and Liam but our surname starts with L and that was too many LL’s together πŸ™

I also liked Alexander (known as Alex), Harrison or Jackson (our L surname ends with ‘son’ so we couldn’t have a name with son in the first name unfortunately).

I wanted something that could be shortened if my boy desired e.g. Harrison to Harry or Lachlan to Lachie. I wanted something that was cute for a boy but would fit a man. I know a 40 year old Ethan and he loves his name.

Cora and Levi are both short names so I bet you pick a short name for Baby Brother too.

You look great Jess. Keep up the great baby growing!ReplyCancel

  • Allison - Since Levi’s name came with a Bible verse with meaning for you, I’ll submit Micah. Micah 6:8 is one of my favorite verses, and Micah is a great name in my opinion. And Cora, Levi, and Micah all sound nice together!ReplyCancel

  • Erica - Jess you look adorable. I would have to agree boys names are hard, but you’ll find one you love. Just yesterday Calvin, our oldest said, “I can’t wait for Micah to get bigger so we can be best friends.” You’ll love having your two boys close in age.ReplyCancel

  • Don, Aimee, Kaitlyn and Kysen - We definately went for the unique names. Our oldest is Kaitlyn and so we wanted to stick with the K names and we wanted a Y in it also….well all the names for boys that start with K and have a Y in them are Hawaiian….but we like the name Kai but I wanted something not so short but we could call him Ky for a nickname and so we came up with Kysen! Unique and really fitting for our little guy!ReplyCancel

  • Jane - love the photos!
there are so many great boys names! elijah, luke, william, thomas, noah, jack, just to name a few! (I guess that it’s always much harder to choose one than to think them up randomly like I’m doing!)
hope you continue to be well throughout your pregnancy – before you know it little brother will be here!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - What about Strauss…Levi & Strauss πŸ™‚

    But I really like Wyatt.ReplyCancel

  • Auntie Mip - What a perfect picture with Levi reaching up to his mama and baby brother. I am very simple and old fashioned when it comes to names. The Bible and good literature are full of them. Then, or course, you need to find something that goes well with Levi. I LOVE Gabriel, with Gabe as his nickname. Levi and Gabe, both strong names that goe very well together. I am also a fan if Peter, Simon, Leo, and William. Kinda boring I suppose. Especially when you look at the more creative names young parents are choosing today. But they are classic and they will site well on an older man as well.

Good luck to you and Dad as you make this important and meaningful decision for your son. You are such a lovely and beautiful couple. Prayers are said for you and your wee ones daily!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Boaz and call him Bo!ReplyCancel

  • Melissa - I have three boys and we did four letter names for all of them. Cody, Luke and Ryan. You will find the perfect name that is just right for him!ReplyCancel

  • Marie - Aaron James McClenahan

    DONE!!ReplyCancel

  • Marie - Aaron James McClenahan

and you can call him Jedi Luke!! What boy would not LOVE that name?!?! (I am NEVER sharing this with my husband) But seriously when you asked for boy names Jedediah popped right in my head. and Jedi goes with Levi πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - My boys are Kevin and Charlie:)ReplyCancel

  • Kendra - I’ve always loved Miles for a boys name – I would’ve used it except I have a cat named Milo (too much alike!) My boys are named Lucas & Reid – love them both! Congrats! We had a hard time with boys names too – good luck!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I’d say Asher. Keep it in the tribes πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Beth Ann - Just had a baby 5 weeks ago, our boy name was to be Rollie, maybe next time around.ReplyCancel

  • Kristi REDISKE - Love the pics- well my son(who is grown now) is Benjamin-his name means “son of the right hand”, I love that, my grandson is Gideon-his name means “great Warrior” wow – I like that too-those are my suggestions.ReplyCancel

  • Rich and Carolyn Dewey - My one and only grandson is named Cole. His middle name is his mother’s maiden name, since she was an only child. Cole McClanahan. Sounds very strong. Kinda like a rodeo name, but then again you might not be a rodeo fan. I can see him on a horse! – or a tractor!

    Blessings on your sweet family!ReplyCancel

My son is Harrison and if I were to have another, he would be Hudson (however, it seems to be gaining popularity…boo!)
    Anyways, here are some thoughts~
    Brandt McClenahan
    Owen McClenahan
    Parker McClenahan
    Brax McClenahan
    ….ooh! I like Brax!
(I have no idea if I spelled your last name correctly!)
Whatever you choose will be perfect! You look great and Levi is so cute!!!ReplyCancel

  • Kristi - I have 2 boys ages 6 & 4. Boy names can be so very hard to pick out!! We have Preston John & Bridger Garrett. Levi was in our top 3….love that name. Good luck with your pregnancy!! I can’t wait to find out that name that you end up choosing!!ReplyCancel

  • farmhouse mama - Four boys here…
    Drake Daniel
    Trevor James
    Cole Thomas
    Kyle William

I really like the names Hudson and Easton but our last name ends in -son so that was too many sons for me.

If I had my way I would have had a Gage, Tate, Nathan, Asher. Hubby didn’t care for those.

I like names that are not too popular, but are not weird. I also don’t want the kids to have to spell their name the rest of their life. πŸ™‚ Good luck!ReplyCancel

  • Meg - I love the names Blake, Grahm and Hudson. My all time favorite is Collin, who happens to be my four year old son!! πŸ™‚

P.S. Levi could not be any cuter, oh my heart, he is a DOLL baby!!ReplyCancel

  • sarah. - I’ve always had a thing for Landon Patrick πŸ™‚

I love Patrick as a first name, but i’m afraid he would be called Pat and that seems like a girl’s name to me! I figure if I use it as a middle name, it’s less likely to be altered πŸ™‚

Reading through the other suggestions I love Wyatt and Beckett too…ReplyCancel

  • Sharon - The name “Christian” comes to the front of my mind when I think of a name for your sweet little guy. I think of all that you have been through as a family and think of your “Christian” walk of faith and well, it just works for me. I’m sure you’ll come up with just the perfect name for your new little fellow – he’ll be exactly who he’s supposed to be! πŸ™‚ReplyCancel

  • Shelly - A lot of people have suggested Liam. Although I love the name, I think that Liam and Levi sound too close. As a Shelly, with a sister named Kelly, take my word for it! Ha! I’ve never commented on your blog, but am a faithful reader. You inspire me to count my blessings and see the glass as half full. I have two sons, Jacob Michael and Gavin Doak. I have also always loved the names Graham and Griffin (I like G names!), but couldn’t sell my husband on the last two. You look so cute! Enjoy the second half! God bless!ReplyCancel

  • Lacie and Stephen - My husband and I discussed our baby names before we were married. We wanted to honor grandparents. Our girl name was actually a little harder because I insisted that my middle name (which was passed to me by my mother and is her parents’, my grandparents’, names put together). So we put his grandmothers’ names together (Jessie and Christine) to come up with Jesstine Jonelle. The boys name is very unique…or so we thought until the Twilight series came out. We are using his grandfathers’ names, Emmitt Boyd. Not crazy about the old timey middle name, but it is the middle name. His granddad, Emmitt, was actually George Emerson but went by Emmitt. So Emerson is also a name we considered. Emmitt can be spelled in so many different ways as well! You can use an e instead of an i or you can use one less m or one less t or one less of both! I think that it would be cool for you to stick to the biblical thing though. Many others before me have had great suggestions. Just thought that you could perhaps change a familial name in some way to make it a name like we did in order to honor those people in your life, but yet not make it sound so “old timey” like Eugene or Boyd! Good luck! We are due in November (our first was stillborn at 37 weeks, our second is a healthy 2.5 year old now and we just had a miscarriage last November). Still not sure what we are having, but are going to find out as soon as possible!!! Can’t wait!ReplyCancel

  • Adam and Vel - Phineas Mcclenahan

    Phin for short.

It’s my son’s middle name and means zealous for God. It is our prayer for him.ReplyCancel

  • Kerrie Newton - I have a 4 year old boy, his name is Dakota. When we found out we were pregnant with our second, I just knew it was going to be another boy. We had picked out the name Dallas. I always thought Dallas and Dakota sounded so cute together. Anyway Dallas got changed to Kylie Rose about halfway through the pregnancy. I couldn’t be happier with my boy and my girl! Best wishes to you and your precious family, prayers for a healthy pregnancy and an easy and safe delivery!ReplyCancel

  • waiting - My two boys are Wyatt and Reid. I have a friend with a Luke and Liam. If you like to stick with the L names for boys, those would be so cute with Levi. I LOVE the name Levi by the way! I tried to convince my friend to name her baby Levi instead of Liam. But they are all cute names! Good luck! Naming our second boy was MUCH more difficult than naming our first!ReplyCancel

I have one boy and his name is Gabriel, meaning “the Lord is my strength.” The name truly fits our sweet boy.
I’m so excited to hear what name you and Joel pick for your newest Baby Mac. (((hugs)))ReplyCancel

Will(iam). Great suggestions from your readers!ReplyCancel

  • merlin - I am way late to this activity, but reading through some great suggestions I had an idea that you have J’s and L for the names,Jess, Joel and Levi, and that perhpas you should pick a K name to have a nice sequence of family letters, you know “J,K,L”
This is just the way my brain works. And, oh how sweet that your last name is the clincher with the M. I’ll leave it up to you to find the K names for your son.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I like Truitt.ReplyCancel

  • Tamara - I thought of another favorite you might like. I already suggested Cooper Scott, or Ellis Scott, another name my husband and I considered using was my grandfathers name. Marshall. I like the sound of Marshall Scott too. Have fun selecting the name.ReplyCancel

  • Jen - I have two boys (and one girl) and their names are Micah and Silas πŸ™‚ Great Biblical names that would fit right in with Levi.ReplyCancel

  • Shawn - Jess, I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. I cried with you when Cora went home to be with the Lord and laughed with you about Levi’s dirty fingernails! BTW, if I ever had another baby boy (which I never will) I would name him Levi! I LOVE, LOVE THAT NAME.

We adopted two baby boys when they were both 2 days old. Now they are 16 and 12. My oldest is Jordan Joel, middled named after his dad, and my youngest is Dakota Blake which we have over time shortened to Kota and even shorter to Ko! He actually prefers Kota over being called Dakota.

I don’t know if you care for either of these names but boys names were always harder for me to come up with. Good luck with the name game! It’s a challenging one and I’m sure whatever you name him will fit him perfectly! God Bless you.ReplyCancel

  • Paula (NY) - if I had a boy i was going to name him Eric Andrew (Eric after my father-in-law who passed away).. I had 2 girls..I love these boy names:

    Spencer

  • Stacey - If we have a boy, he will be Caleb. I love biblical names and it means whole hearted (and Caleb did serve our Lord with his whole heart)!!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - I love talking about baby names. Our son’s name is Oliver, which I saw a couple other people mention already. My husband calls him “Oli”. It totally suits him, and I get comments on how cute his name is all the time. If we ever had another son, we would name him Solomon, and call him “Sol” for short. It’s very strong and masculine sounding to me. I also love Finlay. I’m sure you’ll come up with an adorable name, whatever you decide. All the best for the rest of your pregnancy.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Jess, I love reading your blog!
Your story is a true inspiration to us all and I am thankful every day that you have chosen to share it with us.
I have always loved the names Parker, Bryson, and Charlie.

  • House of Collinsworth - COLE – that would be the first two letters of “Cora” and “Levi”. And it has 4 letters like their names too. :o)ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - Hi, I sympathize with boy naming challenges. We didn’t know what we were having til they arrived, but we were unable to pick a boys name for our first. Luckily she is a girl and we named her Audra. We still didn’t have a boy’s name the weekend before our 2nd was born. Then it came to me and we were absolutely sure it was the right name… Wyatt Henry. Wish you well!ReplyCancel

  • Karen - I know I’m a little late… But I really like the more traditional names like Adam, Robert, Stephen, Joshua, and Jackson. I was leaning towards Aiden for a while until it became really popular. I do love Abel and Cole if you are wanting to stay with a shorter name.ReplyCancel

  • Lani - My family is all L’s and J’s…Josh, Lani, Leyton Joshua and Jada Layne. Some of the boy names that we like are:

    Jaron
    Luken
    Luca

And of course, for you, Leyton would go great with Levi. πŸ™‚ Lane is a great boy name, as well! Happy naming!!ReplyCancel
