griffin {two months}

My mom put the quilt together just in time for Griffin’s two month pictures. Isn’t it fabulous?? I can’t wait to see it all quilted and finished. It will be a great addition to Griffin’s room…you know, the room that we will hopefully finish before Griffin is too big for a nursery. 🙂
I was smart this time and did our little photo shoot while big brother was sleeping. I think Griffin appreciated not having to worry about being sat on while his mama was taking pictures.
Griffin’s eye is a little red in these pictures. He has an overactive tear duct and sometimes it gets a little red from trying to keep it clean. Poor baby. Levi had the same thing. Someone mentioned in Griffin’s one month pictures that the little stripe on his diaper was green…meaning his diaper was wet and needed to be changed (diapers are so fancy now, huh?). Obviously I should have changed his diaper before his one month pictures. And maybe I should have waited until the next day for his two month pictures so that his eye wouldn’t be red. But, I kind of like the real life pictures that are not so perfect. They tell the story of life with my growing baby:
1 month – changing wet diapers all the time
2 months – wiping goopy eye all the time
That is real life.
Here is a glimpse of Griffin at two months…
You are definitely trying to keep up with your “big” brother. At your two month appointment you weighed 14 pounds, 10 ounces and were 23.5 inches long. You eat every 2 to 3 hours which feels like ALL THE TIME. But you are a growing boy, right? Hungry boys will probably be the story of my life. I’m good with that. I just might need to learn to cook in larger quantities.
You are smiling all the time now…although I didn’t catch many smiles this day. You love to be talked to and talk and coo right back at us. You actually have a pretty loud “talking” voice. Maybe because you want to make sure you are heard over your loud brother? 🙂
We haven’t quite gotten into a sleeping schedule yet. You are pretty predictable during the day…eat, play, sleep. You even usually take a longer nap during Levi’s nap time. You must know your mama needs a little break. Thank you sweet baby.
Your nights are not so predictable though. You are waking up 1-2 times a night…and I never know when that will be. Lately you have been going to bed between 10 and 11pm, waking up between 2 and 5am, and then going back to sleep until 7 or 8am. You usually go right back to sleep though, so I won’t complain. Tiredness is just part of being a mama…and it is so worth it!
You are a snuggle baby. You are so happy as long as someone is holding you. It is a good thing I have to take care of your big brother because otherwise I might just sit and hold you all day. When I am holding you, your big brother always wants to sit in mama’s lap too. He loves you just as much as I do…he just doesn’t always love sharing his mama with you. 🙂
You are such a sweet little boy…the perfect addition to our family.
At two months we all love you so much!

Griffin and my youngest little man, Austin, are only 2 and 1/2 weeks apart… so we have a lot in common!ReplyCancel

And not to be ugly, but whoever mentioned the green line is a little loco. i dont think there is a time that son doesnt have a green line. As soon as he gets a new diaper.. pee! 🙂 HA!
And i’m like you… i want real pics. Sure, its nice if they’re perfect, just like it’d be nice if life were perfect 🙂 But its not so oh well!

OH, and your kids are HUGE! I just THOUGHT my son was big but he as 16lbs at 4 months… Griffin will likely be WAY past that! 🙂
    CUTE!ReplyCancel

  • Mary Kaisand - Great updates! 🙂
I nanny for a 3 yr old (bday in October) girl and a 3 month old boy. The transition has also been hard on child #1. I’ve learned to have “cuddle time” and tell her whose turn it is and encourage quiet talking during nap time so we don’t wake up the baby and then lose the cuddle/play time one-on-one. 🙂 She also likes to sing and so we make up songs. It’s definitely a transition for child #1 but it gets better! I remember the 1 to 2 month stage was the toughest! But I’ve started to see a better behavior change! Good luck! 🙂 and yes, keep those naps at the same time!ReplyCancel

  • Chelsea - He is such a perfect mixture of Cora and Levi and so so precious 🙂ReplyCancel

Jess – a big THANK YOU to posting about the sale at dayspring. I got so many cute things there, I finished half of my shopping with one order – and that 30% off rocked my world, and my wallet too! So many pretty things, I especially love the cards. I got the card set that comes with the box of 40 assorted (3 of them) to give as gifts :):) Thanks again!ReplyCancel

  • Robin Most - Jess,
All of your children are just beautiful! Griffin looks a lot like his sister for sure. You are an amazing mom and such an inspiration to everyone. I love seeing glimpses of your wonderful family.ReplyCancel

  • MrsK - He is lovely, so pudgy and huggable-looking – and I agree, very much like Cora. You can tell his grandmother that the quilt is also BEAUTIFUL!!!

For not-perfect pictures, these are pretty perfect. So happy for you and your growing family!!!ReplyCancel

  • Auntie EM - Just so incredibly cute! All three of your children are darling. Griffin is so lucky to have a big brother and his sweet angel sister watching over him. You seem like just the sweetest most kind person. I have learned a lot by following your blog and watching your family grow. I am in awe at your faith and trust in the Lord and your ability to stay positive. Keep doing all those good things you do. You are an amazing woman, mother, wife, sister, friend. Mary from SLC UtahReplyCancel

  • Cindy - I agree with you Jess, I prefer real life pictures too! But you know what…real life pics are PERFECT!! I always enjoy your monthly posts. Such a treasured keepsake for your kiddos!ReplyCancel

  • Faith - those are super sweet pics! can’t believe 2 months! already?!

and i like the everyday real moments too. the shots that weren’t airbrushed so much it ends up looking like a white puffy cloud, ha!

    hope his eye gets better!ReplyCancel

  • Brandi - He is such a cutie!!! 🙂 And I love that quilt also! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • LauraD - Jess, Griffin is just as adorable as he can be. I was actually the person who pointed out the green stripe in his one month post. I absolutely did not mean to sound critical at all, so I’m so very sorry if I came across that way. I was merely pointing it out and I even said that I thought it was cute. My daughter is 20 months old, so I know full well how quickly those diapers change from yellow to green, especially in newborns! I don’t want anyone thinking I’m a mean, critical person! I love you and your family as if I actually knew you! Thanks for sharing your precious life with all of us!ReplyCancel

  • Julie - Jess, you take such amazing pictures! I love these sweet pictures of Griffin and I love how snuggly (and big) he is right now. 🙂 The quilt turned out amazing too. Katherine is quite talented.ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - My son Cullen had the same tear duct problem. I was told to put a warm washcloth over his eye throughout the day. It seemed to help it. Your boys are precious!ReplyCancel

  • Lexie Loo, Lily Boo, and Dylan Too! - Happy 2 months! He is so cute and chubby!ReplyCancel

  • Lauren - He is adorable & I love the quilt your mom made, what a talent she has. Griffin is so precious!ReplyCancel

  • the brokaws - what a cutie and the quilt is amazing. and really…i like that everything isn’t always perfect!ReplyCancel

  • TimandCeri - SUPER Cute! LOVE the Quilt and the Cutie on it. PS, actually if you have not already, try some breast milk in his eye. It is -MACICAL WONDERFUL- stuff and it will cure all that ails him. 🙂 My son had that issue too and someone told us to do that, it cleared it right up. I am surprised one one else has mentioned it.ReplyCancel

  • Mum2twopreciousgifts - The pictures are absolutely breathtaking. And because my youngest is 5, I come from the ‘old school’ of diapers (or nappies as we Australians call them) without lines on them. So I had to go back to your previous post to find the diaper with the green line so work out what I was looking for when it comes to diaper lines.

So now I know. And who cares? That’s life with precious little folk. I was too busy admiring Griffin (and the GORGEOUS quilt!) to worry about diaper lines.

Just beautiful Jess. Thank you for sharing. Michelle from AustraliaReplyCancel

  • Allison Thomas - Oh how he looks like Cora..esp the black and white pic towards the bottom. YOu have a beautiful family!ReplyCancel

  • Sian Summers - Adorable.

My little boy Elis is 7 weeks old tomorrow and i’m just gutted that I missed the opportunity to get a month one photo like this. I will definitely pick this idea up at two months in a week or so 🙂

Your little boy is absolutely gorgeous. You must be so proud. A little heavier than my little man who is sitting at just over nine pounds at the minute.

What a lovely blog about a lovely family xReplyCancel

  • Patricia - OH MY GOSH ! All of your babies are so beautiful……!!!!!!!!ReplyCancel

  • Happiness Is... - He is absolutely precious. I see so much of Cora in him, too.ReplyCancel
