random

Random is about the only way my brain seems to be working these days. So random is what you get today. Random thoughts and random pictures. 🙂

*Levi and I made homemade play dough last week. I’ve only made it one other time but it is so easy. We used this recipe that I got from my friend, Julie.

*We made pumpkin play dough with orange food coloring and pumpkin pie spice and peppermint play dough with peppermint extract and sparkles.

*Levi is such a cheese-ball. He is constantly cracking me up with the funny things he says. He is so much like his daddy.

*Did you see that these Melissa & Doug Shape, Model & Mold Sets are on sale today only on Amazon? Our play dough toys are from Lakeshore but these look fun too!

*There are a few other Melissa & Doug toys on sale today only too…like the Alphabet Stamp Set (only$10) and the Wooden Blocks (only $35…such a good deal!). The blocks are the same ones Levi and Griffin have. We love them!

*Levi loved packing up our Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes this year. He is such a cheerful giver. He loves to shop for and give gifts. I love that. I’m praying this is a character quality that the Lord continues to grow in him.

*Griffin has not been happy lately unless he is doing exactly what we are doing. Like sitting at the big table. He is a stubborn and ornery little guy!

*Griffin loves driving trucks and tractors all over our house. He is much more into it then Levi was when he was his age. Now they just follow each other all over the house, driving away. Unless they are crying because they can’t share…that happens a lot too. That is one of my prayers every morning…”Lord, please show me how to teach my boys to share…and be kind to each other.” I have a feeling I will be praying that for awhile.

*Griffin is finally getting brave and trying to stand on his own. He is not interested in walking on his own at all though…which is funny to me because he wants to do everything else we are doing.

*The weather here has been amazing. We have had warm days with no wind…IN NOVEMBER…IN KANSAS. It has been awesome and we are soaking up the sunshine in our jammies and hats. 🙂

*We are spending Thanksgiving with my family here in town this year. And we even get to have some of them stay at our house. I am looking forward to having a house full. So fun! What are you doing for Thanksgiving?

*I don’t know how much I will be blogging this week, but make sure you check in Friday if you have time because I have a fun giveaway for you. It involves Lisa Leonard and DaySpring {hint, hint}!

I told you it was random! 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  • Jennysue - Just want to say that reading your blog posts always makes my heart happy! Your boys are so cute! I really wish we were neighbors… I’m a farmer’s wife too and I also have two boys ( a 2 1/2 yr old and one almost 6 months). Playing outside in PJs definitely happens around here too. • Diane Taylor - Hi Jess – I truly enjoy these random posts about your boys. So much joy in those faces!!! I am dreading these holidays without Jonathan here with me – but I plan to do something special tomorrow morning in his honor. I’m so glad you will have family visiting – it’s a good excuse to clean the house, lol!!!! I will be with my husband’s family of 30 tomorrow and plan to eat some unhealthy food – and give thanks for what God has given me.

Praise God – from whom all blessings flow…….

Happy Thanksgiving to all your readers!!!!

  • Jody R. - Happy Thanksgiving! We are having a great week of weather here in Ohio, too. I’ve always wanted to have Thanksgiving outside and, if it was up to me, we would be this year. We are walking across the street to my mom’s house and several aunts & uncles & cousins are coming, too. I guess us ladies are spending the afternoon scrapbooking (: Saturday everyone will be at my house to cheer on the Ohio State Buckeyes as they take on that team from up north.ReplyCancel

  • Kate Townsend - Talk about RANDOM… I must have checked in with your blog right before I went to bed and you were literally on my mind all night. I had the most vivid dream – all night – about my husband and I visiting YOU and Joel at your house! Anyway, as expected, you were a wonderful hostess, and your house is as beautiful as I imagined! …and my husband enjoyed playing basketball with Joel on your indoor basketball court…. HA! How’s that for random!ReplyCancel

  • Elizabeth Cannata - I wanted to wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. You and I both have so many blessings and God has been so good to us. We have both been through challenges we never hoped to have to go through, but God was there to hold our hand and hearts to get us through another day. I pray that you will have more fun that you have had in a long time. I know precious Cora will be watching you from heaven loving you all and giving you little signs that she is still with you. In addition, thank for the chance to win something! I am not very lucky, however, I will keep entering and maybe my luck will change! You never know what God has in store for me!! Thanks again for being so raw and honest with your emotions. I appreciate the perspective of anther momma, somewhere in Kansas, that loves her boys as much as I adore my two boys (ages 7 and 11).ReplyCancel
