rhythms of grace

We have had quite the week around here. Fevers, breathing treatments, medicine, restless nights, several trips to the doctor, ear infection and pneumonia. Those are the things that filled most of our week. Definitely not the week I had planned, but a week where my babies needed me to take care of them. When I look at it that way, it is hard to complain. What a blessing to be able to hold my boys and take care of them. But I am human and while I am so thankful for my babies, the bad attitudes sneak in…especially when I am tired and worn out and my week isn’t going as planned. My schedule needs realigned and my attitude does too.

Joel stayed home with the boys this morning so I could go to church to teach my Sunday School class. I stayed a little longer for worship because my heart needed it and I’ve had this song running through my head all day.

I could write out all the words…because they all reflect the cry of my heart. But I am praying these words especially for this new week:

I’m caught in the rhythms of grace
They overcome all of my ways
Realigning each step everyday
To live for Your glory

I’m so thankful to be caught in the rhythms of grace.

There’s none besides you God.

  • Angie @ Creating Our Home - Thank you for sharing that. It is beautiful! I want so much to live to God’s glory…but my sinful nature so often resists. I am sooo thankful that God’s grace is new every morning! I will pray that your family feels better soon! 🙂ReplyCancel

  • Jody - Hope you have a better week this week! There has just been so much going around right now.ReplyCancel

  • Mary Ann - Hope your family is on the mend. We’ve had a few colds and stuff like that but nothing that had us at the doctor (yet!!). I know with the cold temperatures, busy holidays, and trying to get things done, it is sometimes hard to keep a good perspective and keep God in the front of our minds, instead of the back of our minds. I am reminded each week when I teach my little 3 year olds in what my church calls “Primary” that we need to have the same trust and faith that little children have, but it is so hard to do it all the time. God is mindful of you Jess and He knows the burdens and triumphs of your life. He will be there for you when you least expect it and comfort you when you need it the most. Hope you have a good day!! (P.S. It was -5 degrees last night in SLC Utah!!)ReplyCancel

  • Allison - Thank you for this wonderful reminder. I was reminded what I need to focus on and wrote about it this morning. Thank you so much for this song and for taking me away from my selfish tendencies and to focusing on Him.
