b is for boy {baby shower + giveaway}

There have been a lot of baby showers happening around here lately. I helped throw this ‘B is for Boy’ shower for one of the girls in my small group. It was definitely a group effort which was awesome. And this time we had lots of help from Lauren at Lauren Haddox Designs. I sent Lauren the link to this adorable shower that I had seen and she came up with everything from there. I love how the invitations turned out!

All of the paper printables on the food table were designed by Lauren. Another girl in my small group was in charge of the food and she went with the ‘B is for’ theme too. The food was so yummy! Lauren designed little cards to label all the food. She came up with everything from party decorations, to cupcake toppers, to drink wrappers.

 We also made onesies for the sweet baby boy. They turned out so cute. We printed our designs on freezer paper to use as a stencil and ironed the fabric onto the onesie with heat n bond. I am still going to sew around the edges to make sure they don’t peel off. Lauren designed the cute signs and banner for the make your own onesie table too.Do you have a party coming up? Lauren is graciously giving away something to one of you too. Here is how you can enter to win…

globes & paper airplanes {adoption shower}

My dear friend, Julie, is adopting a sweet little girl from China. In fact she and her husband are on an airplane headed to China RIGHT NOW!! It is a day that has been much anticipated and prayed for. So exciting!!!

 A few weeks ago Julie’s mom, mother-in-law, and sister hosted an adoption shower for her. They asked me to help with the invitation and decorations. Yay…that’s my favorite part of a party! I was inspired by Emily’s shower and told Heather that I was thinking globes and paper airplanes and she came up with this gorgeous invitation. Love it!

I used the pink and turquoise from the invitations and lots of globes and paper airplanes.

There were lots of paper airplanes…in three shades of pink. Some were on sticks in mason jars and some were hanging on the entryway into the dining room. I actually had to google how to make a paper airplane and then have Joel show me because it had been so long.:)

There were vintage suitcases, a globe with Katee’s name, paper airplanes and map bunting on the food table.

Julie’s mom made this adorable giant cupcake. It was so yummy!

The guests were asked to bring gifts for Katee’s foster home in lieu of gifts and also a note for Katee. Julie and Ian had tons of stuff to take with them to the foster home. She texted me this morning and said their bags weighed 50 pounds each…exactly. So awesome. I wish I could hug those sweet kiddos in their new footed pjs!

I taught the girls at Craft Weekend how to make this letter garland and felt ball garland and made one for Katee that weekend too. I am thinking I might need to make another one for Thanksgiving or Christmas. They are so fun.

The favors were fortune cookies with little globe tags.

Julie shared her adoption journey with everyone at the shower. I had heard everything before, but hearing again how God has led and guided and provided abundantly for them to adopt Katee made me cry. We serve a God who is intimately involved in the details of our lives…a God who loves orphans deeply.

There were so many of Julie’s friends and family there to support her that day. These ladies have prayed for, supported, and encouraged Julie throughout this long journey.

I know this adoption journey has been life changing for the Johnsons, but it has also been life changing for me and for many friends and family as we have walked beside them. It was such a fun afternoon together celebrating Katee.

Julie and Ian will be bringing their daughter home on Thanksgiving day. How perfect. Will you join me in praying for the Johnson family while they are in China and prepare to add Katee to their family? Julie blogs over at Breezy Acres Farm. She posted a few prayer requests and is planning on posting each day they are in China as long as they have internet access. You can follow along too!

Praying for you, Julie! I can’t wait to see your daughter in your arms!!!

Mary Ann - WOW – what cute shower decorations and the idea of bringing gifts for Katee’s foster home is amazing. My only son is adopted and he is now all grown up with a child of his own. When my husband and I picked our son up when he was only 15 days old, it felt like we had won the lottery. He has given us a lot of joy over the years, lots of worry, lots of hugs and kisses and he and his wife gave me my little grandson, Braxton. My husband missed out on our grandchild (he passed away in 2008) so I have to give our little guy enough love for the both of us. Adoption is a miracle and yes, God is mindful of our lives and the people who need to be in our lives. Good luck and prayers to the Johnsons!!

little brown cow

I had to pull out Cora’s little brown cow costume to try on Griffin this year.

 I wasn’t sure if we could squeeze him into it but it still fit. And it was still just as cute.

Levi didn’t appreciate that his brother was getting all of the attention.

He sprawled out on top of the pumpkins and said, “Look at me mom. Take my picture.” Such a little model.;)

Griffin is starting to get more of his own look, but he looks so much like his sissy in that little brown cow costume.

The same hair…and those chubby cheeks.

I can’t remember if his brother was bothering him or he was done…either one is highly possible. He is definitely the most dramatic of my three.

Just for fun…

Cora {7 months-2008}

Levi {9 months-2010}

Griffin {13 months-2012}

Bye-bye!

thirty-one {giveaway}

When I started looking for my Thirty-One bags to take a few pictures, I realized that I have quite the collection.:) Hanging right by my back door is the market thermal tote, organizing utility tote, and retro metro bag.

I got two of my bags for gifts and the rest I ordered at my friend’s party. Not all of the prints are still available, but all of the bags are. I really love them all. I keep the large utility tote in my car for groceries or to hold things I need to return. The organizing utility tote holds all my Sunday school supplies. The retro metro bag comes with me to BSF every week. The small thermal tote is great for toting around baby food or taking a lunch to the park. These bags are definitely not all necessary, but they sure are nice to help keep an unorganized girl a little more organized.

Melanie is a Thirty-One consultant and sent me the market thermal tote to try… it is awesome. I keep it in my car to keep milk and groceries cold until I make it home (we don’t live super close to a grocery store). I didn’t personalize any of my bags, but thirty-one has lots of personalization options.

Thirty-One has a great November special going on right now. For every $35 you spend you can get a medium utility tote for only $5. And for every medium utility tote purchased, a thermal tote (pictured) will be donated to Operation Homefront to assist military families in need.

Melanie is so generous and has some things to give away to you too!

Like this cute red polka dot wristlet
…and this mini zipper pouch in say it sofly.
