too many hats for Levi

So, I was completely overwhelmed by the number of people who left comments and e-mailed me offering to make Levi a hat. You all are too sweet. But I wasn’t sure what to do because my little man probably doesn’t need 20 hats this winter. Seriously, I had over twenty offers…crazy! And I had no idea how to pick one, which is why if you e-mailed me I haven’t responded…I have been putting it off because I didn’t know what to do.
I thought about just telling everyone that I can’t take any of the hats…that I was just going to buy one.  But, I hated the idea of telling you all no when you are just trying to love on my Levi. So, I came up with an idea. If you left a comment or sent an e-mail, I would love for you to send Levi a hat. We will keep a few for him to wear this winter and the rest we will donate to the Pediatric Oncologist that Cora received her treatments from. Since Levi doesn’t need a new hat everyday, I would love to pass on your kindness and bless another little boy who is facing the horrible reality of cancer. And it is something Levi and I can do in honor of his sister.
If you would still like to send Levi a hat, knowing that most of the hats will be donated, please e-mail me at and I will let you know where to send them.
I had fun going through all of your hat links. Thanks for the ideas. There are so many super-cute hats out there. Just for fun, here are just a few of my favorites:
and one for the mamas…
  • The Ekeland's - I LOVE your idea Jess, you are so creative and always thinking about others. Bless you!ReplyCancel

  • Anonymous - What a perfect idea. I can’t knit or crochet, but I hope those that offered will still send a hat!!! How sweet.
PS I was lead to your blog to pray for your sweet Cora. I keep reading because, man that Levi is just too cute for words. And you are just so kind and genuine. Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to continue to pray for you.ReplyCancel

  • Rach - Those hats are so cute. I don’t think I could pick one either!

    Great idea with the donation!ReplyCancel

  • Robin - what a beautiful idea! This makes me want to learn to knit, just to contribute!ReplyCancel

  • Alicia - That is a really lovely idea! My son had a serious brain infection last year. The infection is long gone but the scars on his head will forever be…a hat made with love can only help some of these little guys who are going through such tough circumstances.
I so enjoy your blog and your strength is admirable!ReplyCancel

  • purejoy - how super cute are those hats?? what a sweet idea and a lovely way to honor cora.
i wish i had hat skills. i can knit… just have never tackled a hat. want to learn how to crochet, too. sooooo super cute!ReplyCancel

  • Mary - I think that is the best thing you could have ever done!!!!! You are so sweet and always thinking of others. This way many little boys will be blessed with new hats instead of just one little boy (even though I think he deserves all twenty hats lol). I think it would be really great if you could take a picture of each hat on Levi’s head before you give them away. That way all the kind people can see thier hat modeled by a super cute little man before it is donated. Just an idea. I don’t know if it is really possible or not, but it seams nice anyway.ReplyCancel

  • MamaBear - Great Idea. Cora’s oncologist is the same oncologist that Daxter has…so maybe Daxter will get a hat! 🙂
Thank you for your prayers Jess and such a loving compassionate heart. I continue to pray for you everyday.

  • Anonymous - Today is the day my little girl ( okay 9 year old-maybe not so little) gets her hair cut for locks of love!! She is so excited to get a fresh start and hopefully give that gift to another little girl! I am not sure what to expect as far as length after the cut but she says she is getting it cut like yours! Thank you so much for sharing your life and encouraging an already inspired little girl to do great things.

  • Kelly - So sweet of you to think of others!ReplyCancel
